When I decided to love you
I knew I was doomed.
My soul fled from me
Clinging to you, beckoning
To be salvaged.
When I decided to love you,
I was convinced I’d be leaving my body
Watch the wind dry out my skin
The sun chap my lips
And gravity to pull my hair
All of its glorious black strands
Fallen to the ground
When I mouthed the cursed utterance
I had an inkling I would give away
My eyes to worms
And my guts to acid
When I held your hand
I foresaw my limbs gnawed by insects
That my fingernails would fall
And from the stumps nothing will grow
When our lips touched
I had a vision
That I would lose my flesh to time
Bodily fluids to nature
And all my bones to earth
